General Re Life Corporation (GRL), a Berkshire Hathaway Company, is offering an excellent summer 2018 opportunity for an Actuarial Intern within our Life Actuarial team located in our corporate headquarters in Stamford, CT.

Your Role:

The Intern will be exposed to an array of the following:

  • Challenging assignments with practical, on-the-job experience.
  • These assignments may include projects from multiple actuarial departments including pricing, valuation, and data analysis.
  • Weekly meetings with professionals from different areas in the company.
  • Lunch and Learns with all interns in the program.
  • Opportunity to present to an actuarial audience.

Work is done in a team environment, which utilizes the experience and knowledge of all team members. These exposures and projects will provide to the Intern an understanding of the dynamics of a corporate team and its environment.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • In junior year, working towards a Bachelor’s degree with an accredited college or university (preferred majors in Actuarial Science or Mathematics).
  • Cumulative GPA of 3. 0 or higher.
  • Strong written and oral communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Analytically minded.
  • Passage of one or more of Society of Actuaries exams.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Organizational ability and attention to detail.
  • Interpersonal/critical-thinking skills. Capacity to work in a team environment.
  • Prefer knowledge of modeling packages, programming languages, and spreadsheet/database.
