Claims Specialist

We currently offer an excellent opportunity for a Claims Specialist to join our Life team in the Sydney office. We are seeking an individual with strong technical claims management skills and knowledge. This dynamic individual will demonstrate a can-do attitude with an enthusiasm for making improvements in all elements of their work.

Job Description:

Reporting to the Manager of the Claims team, the Claims Specialist will partner with clients to proactively provide advice, assistance and guidance on claims assessment and management strategies across all Life Insurance product lines. The Claims Specialist will also be responsible for:

  • Managing life claims of varying complexity, including assessing, analyzing and reviewing cases.
  • Liaising with medical and rehabilitation professionals to ensure the highest level of advice is obtained.
  • Identifying and communicating opportunities where Gen Re can add value to clients.
  • Delivering training modules and presentations.
  • A strong client focus with an emphasis on relationship management.
  • Providing insights to your Gen Re colleagues and clients on current and emerging industry trends.
  • Promoting the company's services to industry participants.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Holistic understanding of claims processes and proactive claims management.
  • Excellent technical, claims related capabilities, including claims investigation.
  • Knowledge of LICOP, legislation and Ombudsman and litigation processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in or willingness to train and present information to a range of stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.
  • 5+ years' claims assessment experience within life insurance is preferred.
