We offer an excellent summer 2018 opportunity for a Underwriting Intern within our Treaty Underwriting team located in our corporate headquarters in Stamford, CT.

Your Role:

The Intern will learn the fundamentals of the reinsurance industry and the basics of client relationship management. The Intern will be exposed to an array of the following:

  • Applications for different products that Underwriters offer to its clients
  • Data research and exposure to rating techniques
  • Risk review and quote development
  • Compilation and analysis of marketplace information
  • Documentation of client visits and communication.

Work is done in a team environment, which utilizes the experience and knowledge of all team members. These exposures and projects will provide the Intern with an understanding of the dynamics of a corporate team and its environment. The Intern will also be assigned one or more research projects to meet a current department need, and will be expected to provide a presentation to the local team at the end of the Internship.


  • Minimum GPA 3.0
  • Must be pursuing a 4 year college degree
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Organizational ability and attention to detail
  • Interpersonal and critical-thinking skills
  • Capacity to work in a team environment
  • Solid software skills including MSWord, Excel and MS Access
  • Must have legal status to work in the U.S.

Additional Information:

  • Pay – $18/hr
  • Work week – normally 35 to 40 hrs per week
  • Duration – June 2018 – August 2018
  • Work status – must have the legal right to work in the U.S.
  • Focus of studies – all majors
