Long term care insurance (LTC) is an insurance product designed to provide financial support in the event that a client becomes ill with a condition needing an extensive amount of assistance. With an increasing life expectancy for our population, the number of older people and also the demand for care have been growing.
The current edition gives an overview about product design considerations and underwriting challenges along with the increasing need for LTC insurance. Specifically, this edition addresses heart diseases and rheumatic diseases as typical disorders of elderly people. The picture will be rounded off with three LTC case studies.
Additionally, we will address risks of snow sports and introduce changes in the winter sports chapter of CLUE, the Gen Re underwriting manual.
