Frank Schmid
Chief Technology Officer, Stamford

Frank Schmid is Gen Re’s Chief Technology Officer. Based in our Stamford, CT headquarters, he leads our IT department and hosts meetings in business data science to discuss research methodology in econometrics and machine learning. Previously, Frank was affiliated with AIG, the National Council of Compensation Insurance, and the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. He holds a doctorate in economics from Leuphana University of Lüneburg, Germany, where he held an appointment as an extraordinary professor of business administration. Frank has also taught finance and economics at academic institutions in Europe and Asia-Pacific. In 2006, he received the Hicks-Tinbergen Award from the European Economic Association, jointly with Gary Gorton of Yale University.
