Childhood diseases and disorders range from heart defects to motor impairments, as well as behavioural and learning difficulties. Some conditions grow into major hardships in adulthood; others can be treated successfully and have a very good prognosis for later life. Untreated children are at risk of developing additional physical and mental problems as well as social, academic and occupational difficulties.
This edition of reviews individual childhood diseases and disorders, i.e. congenital heart diseases, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, dyslexia and dyscalculia. The picture is rounded off with recommendations for underwriting children and young adults with these conditions in their medical history.
